Father...

It has been long time
Since he taught me to walk
The path of life.
My memory fails me when
I try to recall those days,
When he taught me the basic tenets of life

It is still quite blurry when
I reminiscence my birthdays
Was it 2nd , 3rd or 4th.

But, the things I can vividly recall are
Him teaching me basic chapters of education
Him trying to channelize my discordant energy
Him wishing for my good performance in exams
& Him smiling whenever I did well.

It really has been long time
Now, It is upon me to deliver
To keep him happy as he did for me
To take some pain as he did for me
To love him as he did for me & still does.

Thanks Pa.. You are the best..

Let's educate about education

Hello Readers…

To start with I am extremely pleased with myself for consistencies I have shown since past few weeks of being regular at blog. So “Kudos” to me.. He He ..enough of self grolification I guess.
So let us get to the point and a serious one at that. We as a country boast of as one of the fastest growing economy courtesy all those great GDP,FII,FDI and all those macroeconomic and microeconomic jargon figures, all of which I am sure is not easily comprehended by a large percentages of the Great Indian Middle class. Well let us leave those figures for the world to understand. We should look within and look into the mirror and ask us a simple question. “Are we really strong enough?” Just have a look at the most basic need for our society to become a force to reckon with. And that basic need is an “Effective Education system”. I would like to stress at the word “Effective” here because we know that Our government is pushing for increasing the literacy rate by various means like Sarva sikha abhiyaan, mid day meal scheme, but do all of these measures should I say contributing towards building a safe future. Answer to this question is I am afraid is “NO”.
We are not providing the adequate education to our future citizens. Here, I would not like to indulge into the education provided to the children with lesser resources because they are way too complicated to be discussed for this blog of mine. May be I will take up this in sometime future.
I would like to stress on the most common type of education provided to majority of the child who happen to belong to Middle class. First let us answer a simple question. What is education ? Why is it necessary? The answer is pretty simple that “Education imparts knowledge” . Now the most obvious question arises what is knowledge? This is a complex philosophical question ( In fact a whole branch of Philosophy known as “epistemology” is devoted to this) but here I would give a simple definition of knowledge. Knowledge acquisition involves complex cognitive processes: perception, learning, communication, association and reasoning. The term knowledge is also used to mean the confident understanding of a subject with the ability to use it for a specific purpose if appropriate.
So here in the definition no where it is mentioned about the term “rote” which means mechanical repetition of something so that it is remembered, often without real understanding of its meaning or significance. Which is exactly what most of us have done and still most of the child do.

I guess by this time most of you have understood the predicament that we are collectively facing. So, lets us look for a solution. What is the best way forward? One of the solutions that come to mind is as follows.

To improve the effectiveness of the education we should look at what are the various parameters that effect learning. The two most important of them are
(a) The penchant to learning
(b) Intelligence

Let us take each of these points one by one. First is the penchant to learning. Penchant means Liking. This factor is important because once the interest is not there the child ends up memorizing the concepts instead of showing real interest. So it imperative that we must try to find what the child really likes doing or his inclination. He may be more interested in doing art than doing number crunching. And accordingly we should chalk out a plan for him. It is essential that this is done in early stage of his education because that is the period when a child is not under any external influence whatsoever. By external influence I mean to refer to society as a whole including his family.

The second point is even more vital. Basically there are seven types of intelligence. Eg Musical intelligence, Aptitude Intelligence, Art Intelligence, Scientific Intelligence, Sporting Intelligence etc.
So it is again paramount that a Teacher should try and find out the intelligence present inherently in the child. And once that is decided the same process as above should be followed.

I hope with these aforementioned points I have succeeded in getting the ideas that I had in mind across to all of you. So please try and do something to make sure that we do not loose what we have got. And that is a tremendous potential to outshine the world. Let us get up and make the difference in whatever small way we can.

Thanks and take care.

MOONLIT JULY.....

Hi All,
This story is going to be succinct and precise. Through this story I would like to point out a peculiar series of events that transpired in this month of July 2009. Call it a mere coincidence or something else. This month of July 2009 can be easily be called one of the most eventful of all Julies (read as the plural form of July) we have ever had since the birth of Julius Caesar, after whom of course the month was named July.
It all began on with a just week before July. The date was 25th June when the most famous “moonwalker” who has ever walked on earth left the world. The man who immortalized the “moonwalk” was aptly given the honor of a crater on moon named after him. I am sure I need not mention his name here because even in the smallest village in our country where electricity has not penetrated this man did. I still can recall people telling a dancing child “Are! Jyada Michael Jackson banane ki jaroorat nahi hai “
The second series of events concerning the iridescent moon was that this 20th July marked the 40th years since the statement “a small step by a man, a giant leap by mankind” was mouthed by Neil Armstrong when he along with Buzz Aldrin put their feet on moon surface, a first by any human. Since then there has been a few more visits to the moon but we are still in awe with the heavenly body, whose origin is still debated. Theologically may be it was a way God wished to lure humans towards space exploration.
Third and the last event was another epochal event for the human kind because on 22nd July 2009 we witnessed a special Solar Eclipse. The fact that the moon was at its perigee caused the eclipse to be more than a 6 minute long episode. This will again happen more than a century hence from now. Pessimistically speaking I am not sure what the world will hold in those days. May be we might be living on the moon so some of us might not see a solar eclipse but rather an Earth Eclipse.
So here we are an exciting July has nearly passed by us. There are still a few days left and I hope no other excitement is left for us to witness. All said and done this really seems to be a correlation between this July and our moon. Anyways I am leaving up to the readers to decide on their own. By the way this July also marked the 25th (a quarter century) Birth Anniversary of yours truly, may be a small coincidence against the once mentioned before.
Thanks and take care!!!

Destiny.....

Bonjour...
How u doin ..?
I felt like I should quickly turn my thought into some bytes so that it remains on the web forever I guess. So here I am trying my level best to get my thoughts across and the things that I am going to talk about are pervasive in nature to such an extent that ever single soul reading this might find a leaf here and there.
So here I go. Today I am discussing “Destiny”. People call it in different ways some call it fate some call it luck and for some it is Destiny. I think the last one is most perfect of them as it is derived from word destination. And as we all know “life is a journey” and what we are all seeking is a destination to rest our soul.
I had watched a movie some time back named Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks. It was a wonderful movie with some marvelous performance by Tom Hanks but the thing that struck me most was the idea of Destiny discussed in it.
It says there are two kind people in the world one who believes that he should leave every thing on his destiny and the other who think that they need to make their own destiny. I am not going to discuss which one is wrong and which one correct because according to me both of them equally correct and equally wrong.
The point to cogent here is that which one should we choose because at times Life throws upon us certain circumstances wherein we are supposed to make decision and some really vital ones too. So here we are at a junction where our path diverges into two. So which one should we choose? Let us say we chose path “A” instead of “B”. There might be some logic involved in the selection. But the problem comes now suppose while travelling on the chosen path we encounter some impediments not to our liking, which we actually did not foresee. So here is the predicament “DID WE MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION”. In other words did we choose the right path …did we choose the right DESTINY for ourselves?
Here is the conundrum. We were given a choice to make our own choice but if we somehow end up choosing the wrong path our life goes haywire. Our minds are split in two halves one of them saying
“Was I destined to be here?” and the second one saying “did I choose a wrong destiny?”. Both the points are disturbing to say the least. So where should we go?... what should we do? Candidly speaking I do not have the answers to these intriguing questions. Do you?
For the moment “ENJOY THE JOURNEY”...

Bye

Blogging...what's this?

Hi pals,

This writing of mine again comes after a long break, reasons are many but none too obvious than my laziness to write. I kept finding excuses, some valid and some not, of not to write.
Nevertheless I am back hopefully with a bang. Let’s get to the point straightway. Today I had some topic in my mind before I logged in to my blog but all of a something struck my mind and that is what the title says “Why do we blog”. This question is pretty obvious for those who wish to start writing a blog.
So let me begin with some history. So where this word does actually came from? Simple answer is the word “blog” is derived from another word “WEBLOG”. A name suggested by Jorn Barger. As the name suggests it mean logging something on Web. Soon people starting logging in some information on the web just to make sure it stays forever and also to communicate. Thus we can see “WEBLOG” or “Internet Diary” as some people used to call it became a natural substitute of Diary Entries. Somebody rightly used weblog as a “WE BLOG”. Soon the word “Blog” became a noun and a verb and what not. Moving on the idea spread like a jungle fire and aptly the innovation leader “Google Inc” made a great move by purchasing a website Blogger.com thus making it easier for people with normal gmail account to start writing blog. There are many other important aspects of blog but what those are not the intent of this very blog.
What I wanted to discuss here is how and why did this craze of writing caught up with the advent of the new millennium. The first and foremost reason I find is that a blog has given humankind what it had been longing for since long and that is “ right of unbridled expression of thoughts”. Although Democracy as a form of government is wide prevalent in the world but still there are many nations which are not democratic in true sense. Thus a blog becomes the best way to vent out their ideas.
Writing as a form of expression has a long history. It is actually so long back that it is still not quite evident that what form of communication did human beings learn first “Was it writing of speaking” . There are evidences in support of both of these forms of communication. Whatever be the correct answer to this question one thing pretty clear that writing has a long history and has played an extraordinary crucial rule in the development of the man,
Thus taking in account the above two factors it comes quite evident that how much a writing exercise will be liked by most of us. There are other very trivial factors at play but I personally find these two inherently strong factors to sufficient explain the reason behind the plethora of blog we see now, some really useful some not quite. But nonetheless, this “blog inundation” has truly been a new transition phase in the world history and I guess this is should go along way in shaping our world future.

SPACE and TIME.....

Hi people,

I guess it has been a long long while...but nevertheless I am back after a long hiatus to type in my thoughts and my feelings. The reason for delay were numerous but the one which really stood out was the lack of the "moment". And this "moment" is function of mainly two factors those being Space and Time. There were other noise parameters too but the rest of them can be very much grouped into these two parameters I mentioned.
Well if you guys can really give a serious thought to it the whole of our life is defined by what that brilliant guy " Albert Einstein " defined as SPACE AND TIME. What we get or lose in life can be attributed to these to factors. Just to cite a example: We fail in our exam because we might have not have had enough time to study or might have not had enough time to pen down our thoughts on the answer sheet. There are various others of these examples..but I guess by this "time" you might have got the idea.
Thanks for now I will continue on this topic when I am back....happy living...bye for now

Hi people,
I am back at my typewriter (read Laptop's Keyboard) .Let us see how it goes.....
Well this weekend I made a trip or a visit should I say to a nearby CCD (Cafe Coffee Day) outlet along with 3 of my friends, all male. So as it turned out the cafe was bustling with youth vigor and I was pleasantly surprised to see the rush. Why pleasantly surprised I have no idea but may be because it gave me a feel good factor or may be because it reminded me of my college day's canteen visit after the class. In fact the timing was also very near to what it had been during my college days that right after the classes got over around 5 pm.
After waiting for few minutes outside we got a decent couch. I am stressing on decent because it gave us a great panoramic view of the whole of CCD and we were happy look around while sipping our Mochachillo or Devil’s own (I really was surprised by this name coz it seemed like that of a Cocktail).
Let me bring to your notice a important thing about CCD. Have you ever had a nice look at it if no, have a look at the picture above. It has three main features
· the text ‘cafĂ© coffee day” written in white
· the red background
· the green slash
The font of the text is “Slurry” as though the letters have congealed (coagulated) out of a liquid. The color white is a mark of purity of purpose an inherent characteristic of coffee. The red background is about Passion and the green stoke is 125 years of coffee growing heritage of this vertically integrated group. That is it.

So as it turned out we started discussing about the seated people around our table most of whom were filled with a pair or two pair of opposite sexes. But here we were all boys looking around and feeling around. And soon my eyes fell on a bunch of people with a substantial ratio of female all of whom did not look native to the place where the CCD was situated. Those guys did not look like normal run of the mill IT guys but were studentishh…. . So what might have brought them to this place It did not looked like a party, I guess there were just hanging around.
So my next question has our society changed so dramatically that now students don’t play cricket in the evening but rather hangout at a coffee bar. Were will this take us?
I am not sure it happens at New York or London for that matter. It is time we give a serious thought to this matter that the matter is channelizing our youth energy in the most positive direction. And I believe it this we start doing that rightaway.

Simply because “THE TIME IS RIGHT, THE STAKES ARE HIGHER, THE RESULT WOULD BE GREAT AND THE WORLD IS WATCHING”
